Hack n' Slash based combo

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is an action game set in a fantasy world where you must defeat hordes of enemies through perfect combo timing.

Dark vengeance

Three years after its release on consoles, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow lands on your PC. Set in a world dominated by dark forces, the protagonist Gabriel Belmont is a member of the Brotherhood of Light that fights supernatural monsters to avenge his murdered wife.

Hordes of enemies

The gameplay of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is defined as a hack 'n' slash, in which you have to deal with several enemies. To fight the monsters and werewolves, you can use the keyboard, or even better, a joypad.

As a weapon, you'll have the battle Cross, a whip chain that resembles the one used in God of War. Little by little, you will learn new attack types, which you can unlock with points you accumulate for experience along the way.

Mobile shots

The dark atmosphere of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow works. The characters and creatures are quite detailed but the landscape often seems too flat and featureless.

The shots are reminiscent of Dante's Inferno or God of War, with rapid movements and shifts to follow the action. On some occasions, unfortunately, you can see all the action, and enemies are off-screen.

Solid action game

In contrast to a classic of the genre like God of War, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is dominated by a dark atmosphere, even if the game does not go so far as Dante's Inferno.

The soundtrack is well suited to the game and the fighting requires skill, not just quick reactions on the key pad. The defects in the way that the game is displayed on the screen, missing parts of the action, make some situations more challenging than necessary.

PROS

  • A lot of action
  • Many combinations
  • Intense and fluid gameplay

CONS

  • Shots can be imprecise
  • Graphics aren't always great
